Colin Rose

I trained and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator before becoming an art teacher. My work is often based on sketchbook drawings and photographs created during walks in a variety of places including Shropshire, Cheshire and the Lake District.

I work with a range of media including pencil, paint, watercolour and mixed media. I sometimes include text in the work and on occasion will develop work further to create lino or mono prints. The exploration of colour, texture and form is central to my practice.

My influences are many and varied and include the works of John Piper, Graham Sutherland, the American Abstract Expressionists and Cornish artists such as Peter Lanyon.
