My artwork is mainly inspired by travel and nature. I make sketches and doodles of the places I visit such as the Temples of Angkor in Cambodia, the streets of Barcelona or a Sunday morning walk in the Shropshire hills. Sometimes I am inspired by the overall landscape and sometimes I like the smaller details - a shell on the beach, an intricately carved doorway or an interesting texture. I develop my sketchbook work into larger scale pieces using a variety of media and processes including free machine embroidery, printing, collage, batik, drawing and painting.
I studied textile design in Cardiff before embarking on a career as an art teacher based down in Bournemouth. I moved to Shropshire in 2014 and have been inspired by the natural beauty and sense of history. If you would like more information about my artwork please feel free to get in contact.
